Obituary of Gaetano Balistrieri

Gaetano "Thomas" Balistrieri, age 97, Wayne died Thursday, February 11, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Balistrieri was born February 27, 1918 in Paterson, NJ. He is the son of the late Giuseppe and the late Salvatrice (Iozio) Balistrieri. He was a laborer employed by Local 259, Paterson, NJ. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley R.C. Church, Wayne, NJ. He loved wine making, to work in his garden, his NY Mets, his NY Giants and Sunday dinners with his family. He is survived by his wife: Tommasina (Feola) Balistrieri , his daughter: Sally Birch of Wayne, NJ and his son: Joseph Balistrieri and his wife Sandra of Elmwood Park, NJ. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Joseph, Kristen, T.J., Megan, Michael, Desiree and Nicholas, his great grandchildren; Mia, Isabella, Tyler and Braydon and his two sisters; Rosalie Ricci and Sally Thomas. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Harvey Birch, his brothers Sam and Anthony Balistrieri and his sisters, Concetta Avolio, Lucy Balistrieri and Josephine Magee. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 16 at Our Lady Of The Valley R.C. Church, 630 Valley Road, Wayne, NJ. Entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Paterson, NJ. Visiting hours will be Monday, February 15 from 2-4 & 7-9 PM.
